UP Chess Cup 2024

The Sports Office is organizing the UP Chess Cup for the third time.

Details:

• Date: April 24, 2024, 6:00 PM.
• Location: Fordan Center.
• Registration: Participation requires pre-registration (online), which can be completed from April 05 within the event (below).
• Categories:

1. Professional (Players with -FIDE- live ratings)
2. Amateur (Players without -FIDE- live ratings/since January 1, 2023)

• In the Pro category, we can only accept the first 8 player registrations.
• In the Amateur category, we can only accept the first 24 player registrations.
• Registration deadline: April 22, 2024.

Participation in the competition is FREE.

Competition Regulations:

• Game Time: 10-minute blitz games (without bonus time).
• Format:

1. For 1-8 participants: Round-robin system.
2. For 9-24 participants: 7-round Swiss system.

• In case of a tie (for 1st-4th place):

1. Head-to-head result.
2. In the absence of a head-to-head result: Buchholz evaluation.

• Prizes:

1. Top 4 players in each category will receive a cup.
2. Additionally, the top 3 student placements within the categories can represent the University of Pécs at the next Chess University Championships (MEFOB). Did you know that successful participation in MEFOB can qualify you for a sports scholarship?
